My teacher in college says that bonds between metals and nonmetals are Ionicionic.

$ \ce{Metal - Metal} $ $\Rightarrow$ Metalic bond

$\ce{Non metal - Non metal}$ $\Rightarrow$ Covalent bond

I have to write about $\ce{Cl Cu2}$$\ce{CuCl2}$, and found in Wikipedia that if you subtract electronegativity you get what bond it is.

Cl = 3,16:

Cu = 1,90$$\chi (\ce{Cl}) = 3.16, \quad \chi (\ce{Cu}) = 1.90$$

3,16 – 1,90 = 1,26.$$\chi = 3.16 - 1.90 = 1.26$$

X < 0.4 $\Rightarrow$$\chi < 0.4 \Rightarrow$ covalent non-polar

0.4 < X < 1.7 $\Rightarrow$$0.4 < \chi < 1.7 \Rightarrow$ covalent polar

X > 1.7 $\Rightarrow$$\chi > 1.7 \Rightarrow$ ionic

So it should be really a covalent bond. WhichWhich one is correct?

Silly question about bonds Bonds between metals and non-metals

My teacher in college says that bonds between Metalsmetals and No Metalsnonmetals are Ionic.

Metal - Metal =$ \ce{Metal - Metal} $ => Metalic Non metal - Non metal = bond

$\ce{Non metal - Non metal}$ => Covalent bond

I have to write about Cl Cu2$\ce{Cl Cu2}$, and found in Wikipedia that if you substractsubtract electronegativity you get what bond it is.

Cl = 3,16 Cu

Cu = 1,90

3,16 – 1,90 = 1,26.

X < 0.4 = Covalente no polar 0.4 < X > 1.7 = Covalente polar X > 1.7 = Ionic

X < 0.4 => covalent non-polar
0.4  < X < 1.7 => covalent polar
X > 1.7 => ionic

So it should be really a Covalentcovalent bond.... which Which one is correct?
