I have 25 years of academic research experience in the fields of metabolism, exercise and diabetes at the University of Melbourne, resulting in 100+ scientific publications, million $'s+ in grant funding, patents and a co-inventor in two biotech companies currently in clinical trials for fibrosis.
With significantly reduced grant funding in 2015 I left research and moved into plant-based businesses with an emphasis on creating products using hempseeds, flaxseed or camelina. This is resulted in the first-ever hemp gins and a powerful equine prebiotic. During this time I discovered that I excelled in innovation, creating unique outcomes by thinking laterally and identifying gaps in any market.
2023 is my year to start making a difference to the health of our planet through innovation. First up is taking a fresh look at marine biofouling through the eyes of a biochemist (me), with an aim to develop a plant-based anti-fouling coating that prevents biofilms from settling on submerged surfaces.
