I am providing a picture of an organic compound , according to me the compound should be non aromatic as it has sp3 hybridized carbon in other ring , but in NCERT textbook it is written the given compound is aromatic . I would like to know which one is correct ? Please try to keep it simple I am just a high school student .enter image description here

  • $\begingroup$ I comment as the answers to the linked Qs go much in details that though being correct are irrelevant here. Yes the molecule is aromatic as for a moiety of it is aromatic. Same as toluene is aromatic. This is how you have to see it. Which of course does not mean it is aromatic in its whole, but the fully unsaturated ring has "benzene-like" chemistry, is aromatic. The situation is that of a benzene ortho substituted by a methyl and a vinyl group. Draw it, and your doubt disappears. $\endgroup$ – Alchimista Oct 19 at 10:02
