# Osmotic pressure and ideal gas equation

When I was studying osmosis I came across the formula for osmotic pressure as:

$$\text{Osmotic pressure} =CRT$$

where

$$C$$=molarity $$(n/V)$$
$$R$$=universal gas constant
$$T$$=temperature

This equation looks like the ideal gas equation $$PV=nRT$$where $$P=nRT/V$$ Is there any similarity between osmotic pressure equation and ideal gas equation?

• Absolutely. The equations are analogous. – Buck Thorn May 29 at 18:10
