I know that trisodium phosphate (TSP) is used as a rinse aid in cleaning solutions, but I have also seen borax as an (alternative?) ingredient as well.

Is borax redundant to TSP, in other words, is it basically just a rinse aid that is inferior to TSP, or does it do useful things in the cleaning process that TSP can't do?
