I was just wondering. When a hard metal ball smashes into a concrete wall, such as during the tearing down of a building, what are the chemical interactions, in terms of electrostatics, that take place during the collision?

For example, would ionic bonds within the concrete wall break due to shear mechanical force, which is also fundamentally some form of electrostatic force?
