So I was thinking that sinceSince in metallic bonding,metals metals form ions and are surrounded by delocalized electrons,does does that mean metal atoms always react in this ionised state...I mean how can? Can metal atoms lose valence electrons (like Na$$\ce{Na}$$ to Na+$$\ce{Na+}$$) in chemical reactions,when when they have already lost all their valence electrons in metallic bonding Plz don't judge me for getting something wrong.I am only just getting to learn about metallic bonding.?
