Making Can we make a salt using metal oxide?

Is this possible?

Get a metal like Sodiumsodium and then you burn it to make Sodium Oxidesodium oxide because burning something is adding O2oxygen. Then you add the Sodium Oxidesodium oxide to an acid like Hydrochloric Acid and then thathydrochloric acid. That should make a salt (Sodium Chloridesodium chloride) and water. Evaporate or filter the water away and youryou are just left with the salt itself.

Is this possible to do or am I just completely wrong?
